2017 Wood County Master Gardener Volunteer Monthly Programs
Master Gardener meetings consist of a business meeting and a program and are open to the public. Meeting are held the 4th Tuesday of the month from March through November, beginning at 7pm. Dates and times are sometimes adjusted, depending on the program of the month. Meetings in Wisconsin Rapids are usually at the Wood County Courthouse, with Marshfield meetings at Marshfield Agricultural Research Station (MARS), unless otherwise noted.

Annual Plant Exchange MARS
A retired teacher with vast gardening experience, Donna will have oodles of advice for growing and using herbs. Plus, one of the best perks of Master Gardening… our annual plant exchange. Pot some of your excess perennials and house plants and exchange them for different ones for your garden or project.

2016 Wood County Master Gardener’s Garden Walk
Six beautiful gardens in the Wisconsin Rapids and the Town of Rome will be open for your viewing and education. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer your questions. In addition, “Art in the Garden Boutique” returns with gently used gardening items and books and handmade garden art for sale. Sample a delicious treat made by a local chef using fresh ingredients. Local artisans display their art work for sale. Complementary refreshments
Tickets available from any Wood County Master Gardener volunteer, at the UW Extension office in the Wood County Courthouse, or at selected vendors around Wood, Adams, and Portage County. Watch for information on vendors elsewhere on this site soon.

Wisconsin Rapids Community Gardens, MGV Karen Houdek, Wisconsin Rapids
The Community Gardens have really grown since their inception in 2013. They provide a place for city dwellers, many of them gardening for the first time, to grow their own food. Demonstrations gardens provide fresh produce to the local weekly meal program and food pantry.
