November General Meeting
The Gardens of England and Wales

Presented by MGVs Barb Herreid, Chris Griffith, and Micky Erickson for our next monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 19, the tour starts at 6:30pm in the Fine Arts Room at McMillan Memorial Library, 490 E Grand Ave, Wisconsin Rapids. The presentation will be followed by a short business meeting. The public is always invited to our monthly meetings. Hope to see you there!
HEMP informational Program
Matt Lippert, UW Madison Extension Ag Agent, presented this program to MG Volunteers at the August meeting. Wisconsin Rapids Community Media will broadcast this program on Monday, September 16, 2019, on Solarus Channel 3 or Spectrum Channel 985. The program will also be uploaded to YouTube.
SUPER STAR
- I also want to bring your attention to the SUPER STAR training scheduled for 3 spots across the state. This program is in lieu of a single, large WIMGA conference and will emphasize volunteer skills development. The ABCs of Dividing and Transplanting Rhubarb Plants

The Growing Friends Community Garden on the corner of Hill and Spruce Street is having a workshop September 14th entitled “The ABCs of Dividing and Transplanting Rhubarb Plants”. This FREE workshop will begin at 10 am and will give instructions on how to correctly divide and transplant rhubarb plants during the fall season. Participants will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge learned during the class. In addition, the care of rhubarb plants both in traditional beds and containers will be covered. Garden Walk 2019
Our Garden Walk provides the major funding for the work that we do…education about horticulture for adults and children and beautification of many public properties around Wood County. Come and enjoy a beautiful day!
Tickets are available from any WCMG volunteer or at the vendors listed on the poster. They will also be available at each featured garden the day of the walk. Locations will be published later.

Lester Library of Rome Evening Garden Seminars
Wood County Master Gardener Volunteers are partnering with the Lester Library in the town of Rome to present gardening seminars on a variety of topics every 3rd Tuesday of the month through October 2019. Presentations start at 6 and go until 7:30. The library is located at 1157 Rome Center Dr, Nekoosa, Wi 54467
Spring 2019 Seminar
We’ve Started Something New!
We are now partnering with Mid-State Technical College to present our biannual seminar. The college will be handling the registration and payment, while WCMGV handle the education and the yummy treats for refreshments!
Our Spring Seminar is announced for Saturday, April 6 in Wisconsin Rapids. Hope to see you there.

Tickets Available for Garden Walk
Tickets for the 19th annual WCMGVA Garden Walk are now available from any Master Gardener Volunteer and vendors listed on the poster. They will also be available at each featured garden the day of the walk.
Six beautiful gardens will be featured, all in Wisconsin Rapids. Addresses of the gardens are:

840 1st Street N ( Le Chateau B&B)
In addition, Art in the Garden Boutique will offer gently used gardening items, magazines, and book for sale as well as NEW garden art objects. Three handmade items will be raffled. Musicians in select gardens will provide special music. Local artists will have their talents on display and for sale, including photography, paintings, porcelain painting, painted deer skulls/antlers, jewelry, local maple syrup, and local honey and honey/beeswax products. Master Gardener Volunteers will be present to answer your gardening questions.
